If you are considering an Oregon Coast honeymoon, Lincoln City is a wise choice. The city is located on scenic Highway 101, about a 30-minute drive north of Newport (see maps below).

ATTRACTIONS

While many come to the town to gamble at Chinook Winds Casino, the beach is really the town's central attraction. The wind can blow very strong at the shore,
even in the summer; so don't forget your wind-breakers or sweatshirts if you are going to visit the beach. Still, the walk is beautiful and restful. The rock outcroppings north of D River offer tidepools, starfish and sea urchins at low tide. The best time for beachcombing is after the winter storms when the winds drive shells ashore. However, driftwood, shells and other treasures can be found year around.

For spectacular ocean views, The Lookout (just off the Hwy 101 summit) on Cape Foulweather is famous. Also, in Lincoln City north of Roads End and Cascade Head are good viewing points. Yaquina Head is a must see as well.

Watch for spouts of water from whales, especially during the best whale watching months of February through April. Depot Bay, south of Lincoln City, has one-hour whale watching cruises, which are a great way to view gray whales in the area. Also, seals and eagles can often be seen at Siletz Bay, south of Lincoln City.
